master cylinder distribution block

my F-15 68 has a cast brake distribution block under the master cylinder and i need to know if this is correct. i did see a later car with a brass block. if the block is cast is it painted or left natural? thanks. don.

If by "cast" you actually mean "steel", then that's what it should have. 1967-68 Corvettes used a STEEL brake distribution block and pressure differential warning switch.

I have heard some folks say that they found brass blocks on 67 and/or 68 Corvettes. If they were original, they were not typical. My recollection is that the steel block was NATURAL finish and, consequently, rusts.
