Two different interior Bright Blue's in 1966?

    Good day all,

Appears the interior of my '66 roadster has two different shades of Bright Blue. Radio panels, lower windshield trim and kick panel trim appears to be dark B/B which contrasts with the dash being a medium B/B. Have others out there seen this combination? Is it more common to see all one color of B/B? Car is a Sept '65 production A.O. Smith built car.

Here's the interior refinish paint chart for 1966. Two columns are applicable to Corvette. I can see three blues that could be valid for interior code 414 or 415; dark bright blue; medium bright blue [one 60 (hi) gloss, the other 3 degrees [low] gloss; code is slightly different, so maybe the shade is also different, as well as the gloss].

If you took the interior out and spread it across the floor, you will find several different shades. All the components did not come from one manufacturer or plant. Dye lots varied, paint could vary somewhat, especially if some yo yo in the plant forgot to turn the agitator on.

Let me see if I get this.....are you guys saying barring sun fade, mulitiple suppliers of paint or poor mix of paint the interior (painted portion) should be uniform in color . Thanks.

When i had my 65 bright blue interior judged the two people judging the interior thought the seat belt webbing blue was to bright , so the main judge got involved and i remember him saying that there was at least 5 shades of blues used on the interiors for blue, ?

The lower windshield trim is a darker/flatter shade of blue than other painted trim. I believe this was for glare reasons. The 1967 judging guide covers this, I am assuming it is the same for 1966, maybe someone knowledgeable on 66s can confirm this. Tom

This is probably correct. The items not painted (ie. the belts, the vinyl parts of the dash, the seat covers, door panels, etc. depended on the manufacturer specs. But with painted parts, in the 1965 MY there were three different refinish codes (Ditzler, for example) for code 414/415.

Low Gloss: medium dark blue (DL-13069) for fiberlass on the instrument panel; the windshield lower garnish, radio speaker screen, heater outlet (radio) side panels; seat and jack stowage wells. Then code DL-13071 medium blue, used on Headliner (coupes or hardtop fiberboard), rear compartment inner area (above carpet), linkage cover panel inner (I think this means the center console ?)

Full Gloss: medium blue, code DL-13057, used on windshield side and upper garnish mouldings (coupe), upper garnish mouldings, halo panel (coupe), Hardtop garnish mouldings, door upper -- inner (whatever that is), kick panel retainer, lock pillar return flange and cap (inner).

In 1965, the saddle interiors exhibit several shades as well.
