    Corvette Service Bulletins

I have approximately 8 or 9 1968 GM Corvette service bulletins. Their numbering sequence is 68-T-XX. I have ones as low as 6 and as high as 70.

My question is are they consecutivly numbered for Corvettes models only and other models use different numbering, or do all 68 Service Bulletins use the same convention without regard to models affected? I am just curious how many were put out in 1968 for the Vette and how many I am short. Probably a bunch. Who has a listing of all of them for 1968 Vettes?

    Thanks

    Re: Corvette Service Bulletins

I don't know what the total was, but I have at least 80 of them, and others probably have more; 1968 was the "banner year" for Corvette Service Bulletins, which squares with 1968 also being the all-time winner for Corvette ECR's (Engineering Change Requests), running changes, local deviations, and NPC's (Notice of Production Change).

The car wasn't ready to launch, but we did it anyway, and spent the rest of the model year fixing it on the fly.

TSB's were sequentially numbered as issued, so the sequence will include passenger cars, camaro, and corvette with a few trucks and corvairs thrown in for fun. There are also indexes printed a various indexes printed during the year showing the TSB number and topic/carline covered by a specific number. NCRS is/was working on a project to corral a library of TSB's but I don't know the status at this time. Maybe someone will see this and provide an update.

I have had my 68 since 72 and would like to know if there is anyplace that I can obtain these service bulletins for my 68.
My son might need them when I pass the car on to him.
        Can they be purchased anywhere?
        Thank you,
        Kurt

It is our intention to include these in the next revision of the 1968-1968 Technical Information Manual and Judging Guide. At this time we cannot give a timeline for completion, but it will not be any earlier than 2011. It will be a major rewrite.

Those of us who have the 1968, and other year Service, Information, and Campaign Bulletins bought them at swap meets or from closed dealerships. These are among the materials that I spoke about at the NCRS National Convention Membership Meeting in 1984 at Copper Mountain -- Remember Bill?

Your least expensive option, if you have the patience, is to wait until I go blind or die (whichever comes first) and then you can see them at the Corvette Museum. Of course there is always the chance that someone else will offer their collection first.

BTW: I only have 74 1968 TSBs, so maybe John has the complete collection; although up until now I thought I did.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Looks like I have a lot of Service Bulletins to find before I hit the 74 or 80 or whatever the right number is.

                Re: Corvette Service Bulletins

Dick is right about their (the Corvette ones) being in the next judging Manual. I had forgotten about that -- unless someone up the line has a fit over the number and length of them. As John H points out -- 1968 has a heaping bunch of them for Corvette.

I better get back to scanning them and identifying where in the text they need to be referenced.

I wonder if it would be possible for NCRS to sell reprints?

                    Re: Corvette Service Bulletins

I would buy them if NCRS offered reprints.
Perhaps others would be interested as well.
Not sure about the legalities and if GM would allow it.

                      Re: Corvette Service Bulletins

TSBs are included in the latest '63-4 JG and are to be included in the '66 JG Sixth Edition.
This appears to be a pattern for future JG revisions as well.
An independent TSB publication is being considered.

I like the idea of NCRS offering them for sale if possible as I doubt there are very many who could acquire them all any other way. Maybe the updated JG will include them all though and make the seperate sale idea not an issue.

                        Good discussion guys. Thanks.

Nice looking '68. Looks like we have something in common.

The updated judging guides will, at best, contain the Corvette related Technical and Campaign Bulletins. In most years those are a small fraction of the issued bulletins -- 1968 is an exception and I would expect 1984 might be also. Then there are Information Bulletins and Zone Bulletins and subsets of those. If you want them all, you have a whole other task on your hands -- even without going into those general bulletins which do not directly apply to Corvette, but could still effect Corvette. There are folks who have spent a lifetime collecting these things, and there is no end in sight.

Terry, 'remember the presentation on the St. Louis factory and a slide of a '63 build, I believe Z06, that was shown and the owner was in the audience? The pic. was enlarged and I believe the VIN was readable on the build sheet. Help me with my memory.
