Source for dated 1100696 alternator and judging question

I need to get a proper date coded 1100696 alternator for my '67 L71. Anyone know of a source to get a restored one? And, since the '67 judging manual says the alternator date must preceed the car build date (it has no time limit), I assume that even a year or more before would be acceptable without a deduct?

I would expect a problem with any date more than 6 months ahead, even if it's not stated. 696s are NOT rare; far more allowance would be given to a 697 (TI & A/C),

Been there, done that, yesterday as a matter of fact. Found one on ebay, got it bought without ebay. Had a heck of a time finding the right dated one. Somebody, somewhere had one for a late 67, I needed a early one. Cost ran from 3 to 4 hundred. Now what to do with my 693, which is only worth about $50. Called a lot of places, like 12. Good luck.

Thanks for all the suggestions and info. I also will have to get rid of the one on it, a 1973 37A, bet nobody wants that!

Everybody has paper weights and anchors. I keep telling myself its the journey that counts.

Sorry, I misread it, it is a 1972. The date code is 2E3 (May 3, 1972), and it is a Delco #1100927 37A. I can't find that alternator number in my Vette books, so may not be a Vette alternator anyway.

Oh well, thanks for looking. The part number is for a Pontiac, maybe the GTO guys would like to have it.

In looking around at different 1100696 alternators I notice a few with black fan blades and pulley. Is that acceptable for judging? I thought they were supposed to be the silvery color.

I have a working 1100750 (61A) date December 15, 1966 if anyone is looking for one.

I also have a what looks a hybrid alternator that originally came on my 1967 vette.

The front half (pulley) is a 1100849 61A

While the back half housing is stamped 1100616 2 B 19

Anyone know what those numbers match up to?
