Does the arm on the 57 be painted black or orange? Seen it both ways on other cars.

Chris: most all early 57 were painted engine color (orange) but some later
vins were painted black.Not sure of the change over date.

Chris, my 57 VIN # 3745 is painted engine orange, I know that is correct for a May 57 corvette.

my vin is 5277, others out there know black or orange. Sounds pretty gray? Thanks for those who responeded.

The generator brace that goes through the slot in the front motormount should be semi-gloss black, as noted on page 72 of the new '56-'57 JG. Installation of that brace was re-allocated from the Flint V-8 engine plant to St. Louis in mid-1955, at which point it was no longer on the engine at Flint V-8.
