77 front emblem / front clip alignment

Not sure if this has ever been used as a method to align the front clip (which I hope to complete in the next couple weeks). The measurements to align the front side emblems seem quite precise. The rear pin of the emblem pierces the body and goes through the firewall bonding area. Would this be a good location to pin through as a rear starting point??

This is to align my original clip to a donor rear clip.
