I am plumbing my P/S valve and am having trouble with hose part #'s. I have NOS hose part #'s 3826277 and 3878886 and valve # 7825636. The valve appears to be exactly as my original. the problem is the AIM and my oct of 69 parts book says that BB's should use 3878886 but the valve end fitting has an O ringed fitting but the valve has a large flared fitting. The fitting wont fit in the valve. The fitting in the valve has a small fitting. My original appears to use the 3826277 hose . Is it possible that the 3826277 is correct? It doesn't appear that my original has been changed. Any help or suggestions is appreciated.

The 3826277 and 3878886 are pressure hoses between the pump and the valve. The 3826277 is a small block hose and the 3878886 is the big block hose. The fittings on BOTH ends of these hoses are exactly the same (although the fittings are different on EACH end of each hose); the only difference is the configuration of the steel tube section of the hoses. The 3878886 has been discontinued for many years; the 3826277 was discontinued relatively recently.
The GM #7825636 is the correct SERVICE valve for all 1963-82 Corvettes. Either of the above hoses should work just fine with it. While the 7825636 is the correct SERVICE valve, it is not configured exactly like the original valve used for 1969. The primary configurational difference is the inclusion of the hose guide bracket (sometimes incorrectly described as a "stone guard"). This bracket was not originally used on 1969 valves and did not appear in PRODUCTION until 1974.
In any event, if you actually have the parts you describe, the pressure hose fitting should fit the valve fitting. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 69 L36 P/S hoses
Joe, I'm wondering if the 886 hose was not packaged correctly as the the fittings on each end are the o ringed style of fitting not the flared type fitting like on the valve and the pump. there is no way these fittings are going to work on either end.- Top

Re: 69 L36 P/S hoses
That almost has to be the case, here. There is NO 63-82 Corvette power steering control valve that uses an o-ring style fitting at the valve. I think that 80-82 might use such a fitting at the PUMP, though.

Re: 69 L36 P/S hoses
All of the GM passenger car power steering connections went metric in 1980. A concession was made for the Corvette control valve and assist cylinder since they were going out of production in a couple years. However, the Corvette power steering pump was changed to metric fasteners and connections in 1980.
So a new pressure hose was required in 1980 to connect to the pump. The 1980-82 pressure hose (7834409) from the pump to the valve had a M16X1.5 metric male nut with o-ring connector at the pump. The control valve end remained a 45 degree flare with a male 7/16-24 nut.
The control valve to assist cylinder hoses remained the same. Also the low pressure return line hose from the control valve to the pump reservoir spout did not change either.
