    AC Hose Assy. 71 BB

I am restoring a 71 BB that unfortunatly did not come qwith the AC hose assy, which includes the manifold, muffler and hoses. I ordered one from Old Air Products, but the design is not correct. What I need is some pictures of one (OFF THE CAR) hopefully. Any help would be very much apprciated.

Do you mean the A.I.R. , smog pump assembly? If so you need Bill Hodell. See his info in the Driveline.

Frank, unfortunately to my knowledge, no one manufacturs a correct hose assembly for the '69-'72 cars. The major difference being the configuration of the manifold block, the original was a rectangle and the replacements are semi-circular.

        Thank Dick

Old Air Product uses the retanglar block, but they have the angle of the tube that leave the block going to the POA wrong. As a result the hose gets pinched as it goes down the fender well to the POA.

They "may" be substituting the later (73-4?) hose, which for small blocks at least was as you describe and would not fit.

'73 and '74 used VIR and hoses would not interchange.

What you have is probably a small block hose. I hate to suggest this, but I have taken a small block set and gently bent the aluminum tube to get rid of the interference you are talking about. Realize that if you do this, the hose will be non returnable, and 2 if you are not very careful you can collapse the aluminum tube.

              Thanks Dick

I tried bending the the tube, but like you said it wanted to collapse.
