i'm looking for a gas cap for a 1977 corvette, julian date code 1316-3155 any hel where to look and also need a vintage ashtray 1977-1979 will work. looking for good condition

You're in luck because neither of the parts you seek are Corvette-unique pieces. Both the gas cap and ash tray were used on a wide array of GM cars of the period. So, I'd go looking in a self-service salvage yard. Look for a 1977 GM "anything" and if it still has its original gas cap, there's a good chance it will be the model and date code you are looking for. A lot of cars lost their gas caps "along the way", but you'd be surprised just how many still have them.
The ash tray was used on a LOT of GM cars, often for the rear door armrests. These are not dated, so just look for any GM car in about the 77-79 period and there's a good chance it will have what you seek. There should be enough of these out there that you can even afford to be "picky".In Appreciation of John Hinckley
