Weld location of front diff. frame bracket

I've noticed that my centerline location of this bracket is offset by about 1/2 inch to the left. (This is the bracket that is welded to the #3 cross member)

I've noticed the same offset on the frame in Ecklers show room.

The bolt that goes through the diff bracket to the frame is on center to the car.

I've also noticed that my original rubber mount is chewed up on one side only.

Is this bracket supposed to be offset towards the drivers side? Or is this just a weld tolerance issue?

Should I re-weld my bracket to be on center?

That bracket is not in the center of the frame. If you are at the rear from the car looking to the front the 4 bolts that hold the rear to the crossmember are in the center of the car, but because of the ring gear is on the driver side it puts the center line of the pinion about 1 inch off center to the passenger side. so that bracket is welded in apx 20 1/2'' from the frame kick up to the center from the driver side and 19 1/2'' to the passenger side.

The entire Corvette powertrain is offset 1" to the right from vehicle centerline by design, and that's part of it; started in '63, remained that way through '82.
