    1959 Inca Silver Fuelie

    Hello,
I'm a new NCRS member. I just bought a 1959 Inca Silver Fuelie VIN# J59S105696 at the Kissimee Mecum auction. I've driven it a bit, but now that I got some judging guides, I've just started getting into the numbers, parts, etc. I bought the judging guides but there aren't enough pictures.

    1. Does anyone have some ideal references for going through a 1959 to check part correctness, dating, down to nuts, bolts, and finishes?

    2. How do I determine my build date? My engine casting date is B219 (2/21/59) and my Engine Assembly stamp is F225CS (2/25/1959).

    3. How do I determine the original color of the car without tearing it apart? Any resources for that?

    4. Any NCRS members that know the car that could help me with some history of the car?

    Awesome car! Welcome to NCRS.

It's good to see I'm not the only middle 30s guy here.

the 58-60 Judging guide is one reference you should own, was the previious owner a dealer, or an individual? Tracking back through previous owners is a good start.

        Welcome !!!!

I just ran a search and see your car has history in Ohio. I will send you some info through PM. I got you a previos title number and some bank loan information as well as the county the car resided in. Maybe you can get lucky and track it from there !!

JM and Assembly Manual get to some detail. Beyond that this Board is great.

          2. How do I determine my build date? My engine casting date is B219 (2/21/59) and my Engine Assembly stamp is F225CS (2/25/1959).
I don't have my Birthday Book with me but that is a source for your assembly date. Hopefully someone else has one handy.

          3. How do I determine the original color of the car without tearing it apart? Any resources for that?
If you can ask the original or have documentation. Also you will have to do some disassembly to look for original overspray and traces. There is another current thread discussing this on a '61 with alot of very good info.

          4. Any NCRS members that know the car that could help me
with some history of the car?
          Good Luck!

Welcome: I'm fairly new here myself. The members here are a great group who will help. The depth and breath of knowledge is incredible. I know very little and have found everyone willing to share information with me. I saw your car at Mecum an spoke with the owner. It is a great car. good luck. Joe

Welcome aboard. You have a beautiful car. The picture of your car gives a few of us who have our C1s in various stages of disassembly something to shoot for.
You will learn information about your car from this board that no book will ever tell you.

Tom, what type of search were you using to find out that information. No luck here finding out anything on my car through the internet.

I want to thank everyone for their help so far it has been very helpful. Im going to try to meet up with the NCRS people in my area and get acquainted. I spoke with the previous owner and he said they were unable to determine the original color due to overspray or due to chalk marks when the car was apart. Any other suggestions? He told me the same build date yesterday. 3/23/1959

look for paint overspray under the dash, my 62 has the caryon marks behind the passanger seat that told me the original color. i'm not sure on the 59, also will tell you if it was a Hard top car aswell. course this is only if no one took it completely down to fiberglass 100%. I am 35 and have two cars and lover every minute of them. learn by the books and tinkering with the car. it seems no matter how good they look you can always find something incorrect or wrong. Good luck and welcome to the club.

My 59 has blue crayon marks behind the passenger seat. Also your car looks so nice that I printed out an 8x10 of the picture an hung it on my office wall.

I have some brownish discoloration marks on the paint just under the edges of where the hardtop/weatherstripping attaches when i took the hardtop off. It wont come off with regular detailers. I assume this is not an uncommon finding. Any bright ideas, other than repaint the softtop coverpanel or put the hardtop back on?
