    12V Metal Back Headlamps

Anyone got a clue where I could find a pair of these? I believe early '55
Vettes used them. Not for a Vette, but one of my retirement projects

Used in all (Late) 55 GM cars , 55 Corvette #400 and later used them and it's not even in the JM!
Then what are you going to use them for ? Vary rare to locate and can run $200.00 up for ONE. I have one but the high beam is bad.

Compared to what I have had to pay for other parts, that is about par. $200 for an NOS emblem, $100 for a carb kit, etc. Ever tried to find NOS parts for a '46 International KB-12? BIGGGG truck

Roy is that a metal back in the picture you posted? On the metal backs where is the 12V or 12 Volt emboss located on the front?

It's not a metal back all (glass) look again at Pic. .That's why there so rare ,once blown throw them out. The #01 to #400 55's are tin back and yes the 12V logo is also in the middle (emboss) in the glass cover . They ( early 12V tin back ) can be restored like the 6V tin back.
The problem with these bulbs is that your competing with Chevy guys restoring their cars.

Are you saying the metal backs can be restored?

I think I have one, but never tested it. As I recall the one I have has a black metal back.
