    67 Side Pipe Cover Brackets

The judging manual describes the front cover brackets as being cad or zinc as well as the screw that attaches them to the car. My originals were pitted and rusty enough that I'm not 100% sure what they were. I have seen some low mile originals and restored top flight cars that looked to me like the brackets and screw was black phosphate finish. I'm going to be installing some brackets on NOS pipes and only want to do it once, unlike many things I have done two or three times on this restoration. Is the cad/zinc finish still the expected finish of these pars? Thanks

My car was judged Top Flight in October 2009 and no deducts. The bracket is zinc or clad.

This may not mean anything but in the mid 70's, I bought ten of each side bracket and they came in unplated, natural.
I suppose it's possible that original assy line brackets were plated but I don't know.
