The rear wheels on my 68 coupe don't align right. The passenger side rear wheel is straight up, and down. The driver side rear wheel is slanted inward, and apears to be riding on the tire's inner edge. This can be seen most when behind the car at a small distance. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this problem. Thanks,NICK

Re: 68 Rear Wheel Problem
A COMPETENT alignment shop should be able to take care of this problem for you. DO NOT let them bend the strut rods to align the car.
A Chassis Service Manual for your car will give you all the information you need to do it yourself, if you are so inclined. They are available from NCRS at https://www.ncrs.org/store/shop.cgi/...67130218.20411

Re: 68 Rear Wheel Problem
Nicholas, There are several things that can cause this. Elevate the wheel and check the wheel bearings (grab the tire from top & bottom and then side to side and rock it to see if there is movement). Check the strut rod adjuster for looseness. Check for a blown out strut rod bushing. Check for blown out trailing arm bushings. If these check out OK, you should look into the axle yoke end play at the differential. I would think the culprit lies somewhere in one of these areas. You could start with these and see if the other guys have additional suspects to check. Good luck, Mike- Top

Re: 68 Rear Wheel Problem
Mike pretty much covered it,unless you just have a loose camber bolt? Many unrestored or incorrectly built cars have play in the side yokes (axles). Used diffs in otherwise good shape can get by with up to 040-050 endplay. If rebuild it should be under 010". If you have more then you should really check it out. Rear bearing play should be under 003" although the spec goes up to 008".
Also posi setup or wear in the case will cause excessive endplay.- Top
