I am researching the provenance of my rare 1965 Rally Red/red L76 C-60 Coupe. A former owner told me that he bought the car from an ad in the January, February, and/or March 1999 issues of Hemmings Motor News. I bet someone out there has a copy in their "home library". Will you look it up and get back to me? -Clark

Re: Need Old Hemmings Motor News
Clark,
I have Hemmings issues back into the 1985s. I looked in the issues you asked about and can't find anything listed in the 1965 Corvette section under "CORVETTE CARS For Sale" that rings a bell. These are the number of Red/Red Coupe listings in each issue: January 1999 = 4 (all dealer), February 1999 = 5 (all dealer), March 1999 = 3 (all dealer). There are a lot of other coupe color combos listed, and some red/red converts. Was the car bought from ProTeam in Ohio; Berliner Classics in Florida; or Coffee's Sports & Classics in Old Forge, PA.? Go into a bit more detail on the car and I'll look again, there is nothing about a L76 C-60 in any listings and to tell you the truth I don't know what these mean--- I am 1 '62 & '94 guy
Contact me by email if you want.

Re: Need Old Hemmings Motor News
My researcher has located the Hemmings issues in question and found nothing about my car. The former owner must be mistaken as to the date he bought the car. We assumed Jan., Feb., or March 1999 since he said he bought the car "when it was cold". He thinks he remembers registering the car late May, '99 in Minnesota (?). It can be pretty cold in MN and CT in April/May. So, my researcher has asked me to try Nov. '98, Dec. '98 or April '99 May '99. The former owner thinks he bought the car from an individual in Connecticutt.
This car's ad should stand out...way out...since it is (according to Terry Michaelis) one of less than five coupes built in the 1965 model with Rally red/red L76 (327/365) and C-60 (factory A/C). It is a highly optioned car with P/B, P/W, Teak Wheel, M-41, C&CG, etc. It also has low mileage, perhaps 41k in 1999. -Clark- Top

Re: Need Old Hemmings Motor News
Clark,
I've lived in Wisconsin since early 1941 so I know the months that it is cold, too darn many (cleaned that up a bit)
I don't know who you are referring to as your researcher, but I went looking in the other Hemmings issues you listed to see if I could find anything. In the December 1998 issue -- nada, but I think I found what you are looking for in the November 1998 issue.
CORVETTE: 65 coupe, very rare, 327/365 with a/c, 4-spd, red on red, pw, pb, teak, side exhaust, knock-offs, two time NCRS Top Flight, matching numbers, 46,398 miles. 203-758-4620. CT.
Hope this helps find what you are looking for
