Re: Turkey Farmer
ed was the originator of the Vintage Corvette Club of America. i became a member in 1970. he and noland adams had a working relationship back then. ed owned many c-1's, most notably 53 #3 that was restored by howard krisch, les bieri and john amgwert. ed also owned 53 #5 that was bought by randy hickman in the early 70's. ed's club put out the Blue Flame Special quarterly. you wouldn't believe some of the prices that ed advertised his c-1's for in the 70's. a penny on the dollar compared to todays prices. mike- Top

Re: Turkey Farmer
I heard he lives near Monterey today. Sold the 53 #3 at the first Rick Cole (now RM ) Auction in August 1987 when NCRS had a Regional meet in conjunction with the 14th annual Monterey Historic Races celebrating Chevrolets 75th Anniversay. The hammer price was $30,000. John, Les and Howard split the deal as all were worried they paid to much.
Ed said he took all that money and invested in Monterey real estate.
The car sold at Barrett-Jackson some time ago for a $1m if I remember correctly.Over 80 Corvettes of fun ! Love Rochester Fuel Injection 57-65 cars. Love CORVETTE RACE CARS

Re: Turkey Farmer
I met Ed in 71 or 72 after I joined the VCCA. I visited him at the turkey ranch sw of Fresno and saw his great car collection. I have slides of the cars in his pressurized showroom including the low mile blue 56 and the 53 #3. Still have all my Blue Flame Special issues.- Top

Re: Turkey Farmer
Ed sent me a sample of his club's magazine in the 70s with a friendly, personal note. I didn't join because it was mostly 6-cyl. stuff:
1954 Corvette, concours condition, 35,000 miles, $3000.00
another perfect 54, $2800.00
'53 #190, excellent condition, $2800
Ed has 2 '53s for sale needing restoration $1500 and $2000.
Just for Roy: '55, bronze paint, Plasticon hardtop, $2500
Get the flux capacitor warmed up...- Top

Re: Turkey Farmer
About two years ago. I visited good old ED.He showed me where he had burried #003 because he was getting a divorse. Went up in the attic and cleaned house! 100s of uncirculated Blue Flame Special magazines.A truck full of early parts and a 1954 that had been sitting in the backyard for many years.Even bought a propeller that was off his Sesna .Which know hangs in my office. A very interesting visit!- Top
