    1955 wing nut

    need a picture of the correct wing nut for a 55 air cleaner. do all c1 cars use the same wing nut and what is the coating on them?

    Dont have a pic right now but 55 to 57 all the same chromed

      Hi John,
      I have attached a picture of a wing nut from my 57 5 star bowtie car.
      It is chrome as Roy mentioned.

        That's it same as my 55 wing nut and I think all 55 to 57 single air cleaners are the same

                dave, is the notch on the left wing a identifing mark for this wing nut? if so, is there another notch on the opposite side?

                  John I am not sure of the notch you are talking about.
                  I did go out and take another look at it this morning and take a few pictures. Maybe what you say is a notch in the picture is just a nick in the chrome.
                  I do not see any notches at all in the wingnut.
                  Attaching a few more pictures with the wingnut installed on the car.

                    thanks again dave! the nuts used on the 55-57 seem to be identical to the wing nuts used on 64-72 cars. in a thread "wing nut nickel and dime theory" there are thickness, lenght, and even a discription of the proper gap in the wings.
