    VFW Raffle

    Hi all,

Normally my postings on here are the same old blah blah blah blather, but this is definitely one of a more exciting nature at least for my family and I. As with all of us on here I truly enjoy restoring old Corvettes and have done so for the last 10 years or so. Well recently my wife and I have been discussing a way we could do something to give back to our community. Initially we went to my oldest daughters school to do a fundraiser with them but unfortunately they could not work it into their spring schedule. So that had to me start scratching my head a bit. Who could use it the most I thought? While riding around town here in NC early last week I drove past a VFW post and bingo the light came on instantly. I contacted one of the representatives at the post and they are all for it. In fact they are currently raising money to build a homeless shelter for the local veterans and could seriously use the money. Here is what I am going to do. I am planning on donating my current project which is a fully restored, fully documented 5 X NCRS Top Flight, 1 X Bloomington Gold 1964 Corvette convertible. Obviously I can't afford to simply give it away for free but I do plan on selling it to them at a price well below current value and make up a portion of the difference in a tax break. I hope!!!!

With the large number of active and retired veterans associated with the NCRS I am hoping that when the raffle is fully up and running I could count on many of you to buy some tickets. The number of tickets will be relatively small so the odds of winning will be high. What a great way to give back to those who have given so much to all of us. We are discussing the details of the raffle now but I am hoping they will have several other large cash prizes for second and third place in the drawing.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and hopefully for taking the time to participate.

    All the best,

PS: I meant to include this before so here goes. I will include all information as to when and where you can buy the raffle tickets as soon as it's known. Thanks so much for your interest.

GREAT CAUSE CRAIG!! There are many, many worthwhile organizations out there and the VFW is definitely at the top of the list. For whatever reason a veteran ends up on the street he answered the call when asked to help his country. THAT can't be forgotten!! Count me in when the tickets are ready.
