    So they should be parallel to the crankshaft & not circular like you might see from a machine shop job?

    Mine are still there but it was decked somewhere along the line. You can see them well enough to prove it if I ever need to. Besides it's a 327/300.

      Close. It's the lines that in SOME cases MIGHT have been created when the decked was broached. Milling is a completely different operation that was not used by Flint or Tonawanda.

      Far too many people believe that all decks had broaching marks.

        As far as the what I will call "flying F" of the suffix code, what was the ryme or reason to it? A certain production period or just random?

          The "flying F" as you refer to is somewhat common on the earlier Mark IV engines

            The heads are wrong on both pictures. I would not say either look "real".

              Interesting, the more I look at Pic #2, it looks like someone tried to broach over the stamps.
              But, as others have stated, pictures can be deceiving.

                The second one (19395) was advertised on Ebay in Oct 09 as a matching # engine which is what I think it is. Also it had a XX paint code and was painted red. Can't see enough on the first to commit.
