Can someone on tell me the correct way the 61-62 interior mirror glass should be facing out? In regards to ncrs judging, with the pencil point test. Is a gap between the mirror glass to be shown or is the pnecil point suppost to touch mirror glass with no gap between the glass? Thank you for feedback on this.

The silvering surface should be on the face of the mirror There should be no gap showing using the pencil point test. Here is an article from the Restorer that explains.

Re: 61-61 interior mirror glass gap or no gap?
Thank you for that article on the 61-62 interior mirror glass installation. It will help me in dealing with our customers. I get asked this question alot. We restore corvette mirrors and most of our requests are for the gap side of the glass to face out. We can do it eighter way, however I now can tell the customer about this article and let them decide how they want us to do it. Thank's!- Top

Re: 61-61 interior mirror glass gap or no gap?
FYI - best test for a mirror is to use a credit card at a 45 degree angle to the mirror glass. Often the pencil point test is in the eye of the holder. Up until '59 thereabouts (can't recall when the transition took place exactly) mirrors were silvered on the back, therefore there was a separation in the imagines. Gary....NCRS Texas Chapter
