    72 Master Cylinder Clevis Pin

I changed the master cylinder (manual brakes) on my small block automatic. I spent 7 hrs. trying to get the clevis pin in with no luck! I have tried everything to get through the clevis and brake arm with no luck. Do i need to remove the steering colum as a last resort?
Secondly, if i put the push rod through the firewall to make it easier to move the push rod around would i be able to mount the master cylinder?
    any suggestions would be appreciated.

Richard, It may make it a little easier if someone helped support the master cylinder from outside while you slide the pin through the brake pedal. the C/pin head does go through the from the console side to ease instalation. if your car has a/c you'll want to remove the lower duct. do not remove the column! I recently put a M/C in a 4spd manuel brake car without to much of a problem.I think once the rod is through onto the pedal you can bolt the outside to secure the master and then move the pedal up or down to align. the pin..

laying on you back or looking up to install the pin is a royal P--- IN THE A---.

Another suggestion is to remove the driver's seat. It is a lot more comfortable when laying on your back. Hope this helps Richard

That's why in the plant, we installed the manual pushrod and clevis (including the pin and retainer clip) to the brake pedal arm in the off-line bench subassembly of the pedal support, where it was out in the open and you could swing the clutch pedal arm out of the way.

The master cylinder was on the chassis, and was secured to the firewall (and pushrod) after Body Drop; all that remained was to set the pedal free play (by turning the pushrod) and tighten the jam nut.
