early 63 wiper grill wells

The consensus is that the wiper grill wells were blacked out on the mid year cars.

When I stripped off the original paint on my October built saddle coupe I do not remember seeing any vestige of black paint in the wells.

Anyone with an ealy 63 have body colored wells?

The grille wells on my Dec. 62 convt. were blacked out.
