Re: install differential cushions
Brad------
Make sure the bushing cavities in the crossmember are completely free of rust and dirt;
Lightly lubricate the cavities and external shell of the bushing with silicone grease;
Press the bushings in using an hydraulic or arbor press. If you don't have a press, you may be able to drive them in with a hammer. Press or hammer ONLY on the outer shell of the cushion and NOT the inner rubber portion.
Bend the tabs over and flatten with a hammer.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Just whack 'em with a ball-pein hammer to get them started, and finish with the flat end; it's pretty soft steel.Attached Files- Top

Re: install differential cushions
Brad my two cents worth . I just put a couple in . I had no problem installing with cross member painted. I used a block of oak and drove it in
with a hammer. I put a small amount of white lithium around bore first.
Bend tabs down flat with hammer stated. I had to touch up tabs with paint after install. I also sprayed inside cross member with rust proofing.
Good luck.- Top
