    67 Corvette Trico Wiper Blades

    Hi Guys,

Please verify what is the correct Trico Wiper Blade for a 67 Corvette. The car in question is mid production 67. Are all 67 blades the same? Are they peaked and brushed? Do they say "Made in USA"? Or "Trico USA" or just "Trico".

    Thanks,
    Dave

Dave I can tell you that the blade holders are peaked and brushed. Also just the word "Trico" should appear on the blade holder. This is true for later 1966 cars.

Dave - There are a number of "urban legends" and "old Corvette owner's tales" about windshield wiper blades, especially the TRICO brand, used on 1967 Corvettes and one of them is that 67 Corvette w/s/w baldes were stamped TRICO (only) on both ends for the entire 67 Production year. This was an easy statement to make, but infortunately is was not supported by any research. Based on research I have done and collaborated with numerous 67 Corvette owners over the last 10 years and also because GM used these w/s/w blades across the GM product line numerous junkyarding expeditions what I found is that there was a change from blade holders stamped TRICO (only) to blade holders that were stamped TRICO and under that in small letters MADE IN USA sometime early in the 1967 calenday year. In fact I found TRICO holders on cars made in early calendar year 1967 with blade holders stamped TRICO/MADE IN USA on the top end and TRICO (only) on the bottom end.

To switch gears a bit the "best" wiper blade legend is that 67 Corvettes did not come with ANCO windshield wiper blades. A bit of research into the 1967 Corvette Assembly Information Manual and Chevrolet Parts and Accessories Catalogs, and of course reading Noland Adams' book disproved that one and we found out that there were OEM ANCOs used on 1965 -1967 Corvettes and infact used on 67-69 Camaros and Corvairs.

So, do some digging becasue with everything associated with these cars is not always "black or white" and contrary to what some think, we don't know everything yet.

Good luck with your windshield wiper blades and have fun. It's GR8 hobby. Pete

David, my 67 (purchased new) is an April car. The wipers are peaked, brushed with "TICO" and "Made in USA" on both tips. See photos.

My June-built '67 has blade holders just like Ron's - TRICO and Made in USA on both ends.
