    2002 Z06 VIN Numbers

I have a 1969 350/350 convertible but the wife wanted AC and more comfort. She wanted something blue and newer. Anyway, I purchased a 2002 Z06 in Electron Blue. An impressive car but I still enjoy the 69. My question to someone that might have one, do these cars have the partial VIN number stamped on the engine and other parts like the older Corvettes? If so , is there a reference that provides the locations?
    Thanks for any feedback,
    Steve

I know they do have the laser engraved casting number on the cylinder case to differentiate the LS6 from the LS1. I have a late '02 coupe, 1,863 from end of production, it has the better LS6 configured block.

If I remember right, it is stamped on the bellhousing flange on the driver's side. I'm not in the office to double check today, but I think that's where they were. Pretty tough to see with the engine in the car.

ALL Corvettes from, I think, 1960 to present have a part of the VIN on the originally installed engine. Location and method varies, but for your 2002 Tom has offered good advice. I am not aware of any central location that describes the details of the stamp or engraving.

SShhhhh! That's 'cuz it's supposed to be a secret, not divulged to mere civilians; only the bureaucrats have the "need to know".
