1961 Seat Belt Anchor Brackets

The judging manual indicates the seat belt anchors were painted body color. Which part is the manual talking about?

I am trying to determine how the hambones, cinch plates, and the outboard brackets that bolt to the body and secure the seat belts are finished.

I think the hambones were bolted onto the floorboards and the painters reached around and shot a quick coat on them during the paint operation. The belts and cinch plates came later so the cinch plates are cad plate with no trace of paint.

Thank you!

If I have this right, the hambones, both the inboard and outboard anchor bracket, the inboard nut that secures the hambone to the anchor bracket, and the outboard bolt that secures the hambone to the anchor bracket would all be painted.

Does everyone agree?

The hambones were installed prior to painting. they did not purposely paint the entire unit. The hambones will appear with various degrees of over spray , as there was no way of spraying all of it............

The hambones were installed prior to painting. they did not purposely paint the entire unit. The hambones will appear with various degrees of over spray , as there was no way of spraying all of it............

The originals on my '59 are fully painted on one side and cad on the other.

This is more in line with the response I was expecting. My thought was the painting would have been done before the seats were installed. The painter would have been facing the outboard side of a pair of hambones and I thought there would have been a good chance most if not all of the outside portion would have been painted.

For the the inside of the hambone, he might have reached in and given it a shot, but then he might not have.

Bill, what about the bolt head holding the hambone to the anchor bracket?

Dennis:

The inboard side of the outboard bracket and hambone are painted. (The outboard side is shielded by the body once installed.)

The bolt head is painted.
