    clock removal/installation

I need to remove the clock in my '66 coupe, have rebuilt and re-install. Can anyone offer suggestions how best to remove?

    Thanks, Steve

    Re: clock removal/installation

    My method:

    disconnect the battery
remove the radio or side panels
    remove the radio
    disconnect the clock
remove the two lamps from the clock
remove the two clips holding the clock into the dash panel
slide the clock out to you

    Send the clock to:
    The Clock Works

    Installation is the reverse
The light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.

      Hi Steve:

I remove the glove box as it is very easy to get the clock out. There are the 6 scews around the top after opening the door and then the 4 large screws underneath (hinged) the door assembly, You need to disconnect the lead for your glovebox light and be aware the screws underneath (4) will have some tension on them since the springs for the door operate against them. It is a really simple removal. Once out of the way, you can reach in, remove the 2 clips and power lead.

If done this way, you don't have to remove the radio side panels or the radio itself.

If you need more information, let me know.

Disconnect the battery first! Always a good idea.

      Bob

Our own Joe Ray is also very good with clocks. Does a nice job restoring them and they work. JD

I agree with Bob. I remove the glove box, but I do it a little differently.
There are six screws that go around the glove box, I don't take the door off the hinge. I remove the 4 screws that hold the assembly to the bar where your trim and vin tag are and remove the glove box as an assembly.
Once the glove box assembly is removed its very easy to get to the back of the clock and its clips.
All 3 of these methods will work.
          Good Luck
