John Hinckley induction video featuring Bob Lutz and Alex Mair

    All,

The second video is available and posted. See the email link below from Steve Rohde.

The following is an email that I sent out to announce the second of two videos that was put together to reflect activity and key events associated with John Hinckley's induction.

This video features Bob Lutz (General Motors Vice Chairman) and Alex Mair (former GM v.p. and group exec talking about their relationship with John.

Again, all of this would not have happened without all of your support.

    Len Palmer

    Email announcement:

To: Bob Lutz, Alex Mair, Wendell Strode, Buzz Marston, Dave Burroughs, Noland Adams, Dave McLellan,David Hill, Vito Cimilluca, Howard Hoover, Bill Wenzel, John Pirkle, Andy Bolig, Lance Miller, Beverly LeGate, Carolyn Mausley, Jim Lockwood, Russ Uzes, John Broman, Mark Kaufman, Steve Rhode, Bruce Bursten, Roc Linkov, Stephen White, Connie Russell, Ernie Willcox, Joe Lucia, Stephen White, Steve Rohde

    All:

The second of the two videos is now published on the Michigan NCRS web site. As you know, John's selection was based on his significant contributions to the Corvette restoration hobby/passion. Thanks to all of you that were so instrumental in John's selection to the NCM Corvette Hall of Fame.

Link to the video is below. This video is focused on the Induction ceremony for John Hinckley.

It also features people that were at the induction ceremony such as Wendell (NCM executive director), Buzz (Chairman, NCM board and HOF selection committee), Dave McLellan (former Corvette Chief engineer),David Hill(former Corvette Chief engineer and plaque presenter), Lance (Partner Corvettes of Carlisle), Vito Cimilluca (NCRS pres),David Burroughs testimonial (founder Bloomington Gold), Andy Bolig (editor, Corvette Enthusiast mag.) Dave Wenzel (Corvette Enthusiast), and Howard Hoover(Pres. NCRS Michigan).

The video features Mr. Bob Lutz, vice chairman, General Motors and Alex Mair, former vice president and group exec General Motors. Mr. Lutz and John worked together when John was running the Viper/Prowler plant for Chrysler reporting to Mr. Lutz (Viper concept was due to Mr. Lutz). According to John, the Viper/Prowler plant was the biggest hot rod factory in the world at the time.

Mr. Mair ran all of GM engineering, helped on the design of the original 53 Corvette and was responsible for the Sting Ray era. Zora and John worked for Mr. Mair.

There is a video testimonial that was created by GM to be used in the induction ceremony by NCM. We have special permission by GM to use the video Clip that was shown as part of the induction ceremony featuring Mr. Lutz's testimonial.

Mr. Mair worked with John on several GM patents which include Net Build which Mr. Mair discusses on the video. Net Build was a patent that John initiated to dramatically improve build quality. In those days, alignment, fit and finish in the manufactured car was totally dependent on the manufacturing floor worker having a good day. Net Build employs technology to ensure the fit and finish where precise and repeatable irrespective of the auto worker's good or bad day.

The video edited by Steve Rohde is absolutely stellar in its production thanks to a combination of Steve, Stephen White (NCM editor) and folks from GM video productions.

To view the video, see the web link below from Steve Rohde below.

    Enjoy......

    Co-nominator for John

    P.S.

There are several Corvette restoration related videos on the Michigan NCRS web site that Steve has produced. Great for all of us with the hobby/passion.
