Awakening my '63 roadster which had sat unstarted for 15+ years, the engine would run reliably but poorly on several cylinders (more than 3, fewer than 6).

After adding MMO to the oil, the engine rapidly proceeded to empower most of its cylinders (7-1/2, or there abouts). The only reason it didn't bring back all 8 was that one piston and most of its rings were broken (unbeknownst to me at the time).

So, I'm a believer in the stuff in certain limited applications.

Jim, as I recall from about 35 (??) years ago or more I drained the oil, changed the filter and can't remember how much MMO I put in. I don't know if it was 5 quarts or more or if I added it to fresh oil. I remember pouring some down the carb, removing the valve covers and pouring a little on the rockers/valves/springs (I think) and squirting some in the spark plug holes. I may have used it to oil the distributor but can't remember that either.

I keep it in the fuel of my "small" (602"Continential) truck engines. They will sit sometimes almost a year without being cranked. I just use it as insurance to keep a valve from sticking.

I started using Marvel Mystery Oil in my Harley back in 78. I had a valve hang up, and an Old-Timer said to me "You don't use Marvel Mystery Oil do you son?" Started using it from that point, and never had another problem with sticky valves.
It really keeps the upper cylinders clean. I got 3 times the use out of the spark plugs too.
I use 2 oz. for every 5 gallons of gas. Use it in my old Vettes and all my lawn mowers. I think it also has a positive effect on internal seals in the carbs too.

FWIW, I was told to use a small amount of MMO in the fuel to help keep the fuel pump diaphram from hardening and cracking due to the ethanol. Probably don't need it if the fuel pump has been replaced recently with a material that's compatible with ethanol. Anyway, can't hurt.
