    Factory ID of Buyer

What documents did the factory (if any) and dealer have that identified a buyer who ordered a car?

Looking back on some of the documentation I have when I ordered my '77 I notice the Dealer Copy (6 1/2" X 9 3/8") listing the car VIN, dealer, options, MSRP, Dealer Order No., etc. Included in hand printed black ink is:

    G-173

    N047 - U508

    Firestone

    Brohard

    2848

Also of interest: included taped to my ignition shielding (IIRC) is a heavy paper tag (5 5/8" X 3 3/8") titled:

    V-8 Engine
    Parts Check
    Date 10 22 76

This tag includes 21 engine items, 18 checked off in black ink

Sorry I cannot post pictures. My scanner scans no more.

My guess is the second line is your key codes. Someone will be visiting you shortly.

I suppose you have Firestone tires.

Terry, I still have the Firestones, all 5 of them. Each with steel belts sticking through the tires.

And as for my key codes, I live in Texas and there is this law that allows us to shoot people on our property just cause they need shootin'.

      Thanks!

Dick, that is when my dogs take over. If they don't stop the bad guys then I turn my wife loose on them and it gets nasty then. She is mean, real mean.

I don't think the plant knew the name of a special order retail customer unless that customer was set up to take plant delivery. The plant's "customer" was always the dealer and the dealer handled the transaction with the retail customer.

The dealer, of course, knew the name of the customer associated with any dealer order that was a customer special order.

Ralph, what trim/color combination did you order?

                  Re: Factory ID of Buyer

I have seen the buyer's name on other color/trim over ride orders (like Ralph's) and on Corvettes that were ordered by GM employees for their personal use. In the early C3 era those are the two circumstances where I have seen the buyer's name on the build documents, but I have not seen any "plant delivery" build documents. Since "plant delivery" officially didn't exist at that time, I am not sure what we would find.

BTW: Steven. I'm from Chicago where more people are armed than in Texas, and where it is illegal for the last 18 years to own handguns yea, right -- And I used to work on the street at all hours, so you law abiding wild westerners don't scare me. Although it has been 20 years since I worked the streets. You guys are supposed to have training to carry. We don't need none of that edumication around here, and almost any punk kid with his pants on the ground is armed.

Yes Terry, as Texans we all have to go all day to school(9am-8pm) to get our CHL. $70 for seniors. Last 5 years.

Thanks for the info. Terry! The old factory (St. Louis) deliveries are of interest to me. After a buyer requested factory delivery from the dealer what happened next? I assume the request was passed along with notations on the ordering and build docs. --- or was there some formal way to inform everyone along the way?

As for the guns in Chicago, you have a point. I was born in In Ohio and raised in rural Indiana. I remember students who wanted to go hunting could take their rifle and shells to school, put them in their locker, check out at noon and go hunting, or drive an hour and go to

Unfortunatley, some still take their guns and ammo to school and go hunting. It was much more simple then.

'saw some bucket trucks heading north a few days ago.

The color was Daytona Yellow/ Saddle Leather. If someone can post a picture of the tank sticker i will send it to you to post.
