    Warren,
See below for a pic of my trim tag. As mentioned earlier (and I did not know it was common) look at the E29 position. My Y looks different also. Honestly I have more of a problem with the vin tag, specifically the V is to clean and not rounded at bottom inside.

You guys have good eyes. The tag is not a piece that was put there by a member of the UAW.

When I see a car with so much made up documentation and numbers it does not sit well with me. Makes one think if any of it is real or acquired legally. But aside from all that numbers stuff it is a nice looking car.

I agree. Beautiful car. I would not kick it out of my garage!

I wouldn't kick it out of my garage either, but that's not the point of the discussion. The car is what it is and shouldn't be advertised otherwise. Anybody who would mistakenly buy the car believing that all that documentation is real and that the tags are real is going to be disappointed when they find out otherwise. That usually creates bad feelings on somebody's part which will have a detrimental impact on the hobby. One more person will thus get turned off C2s and the perception will increase that C2 values are impossible to divine - this will then reduce the real values of all our cars - especially as the generation that grew up with them (and has first hand knowledge of what's real) passes on.

I would love to buy a 65 396 roadster but getting a fake car scares me. i dont even want any options added. just a plane jane 396 real deal.

I purchased a 65 driver last year at Mecum for 46,000 after looking at dozens for more money in worst shape. This year I was at Mecum and saw 65's worst then mine selling for 50,000 plus. This year I bought the cheapest 74 driver for my son for 20,000 and last year that same quality car was selling for about 15,000. Just my take. Joe

I see that the bidding on the blue 67 got to $120,100 without meeting the reserve. Looks like 24 bidders with one person putting in 5 bids and another with 6 bids.

The asking prices sure aren't down. I don't kinow of many selling, but as I said prices are still way up there.

One more thing to add fuel to the fire.

Does it look like there are scratch marks in the support bar just to the left of the left-hand rivet on the VIN tag? Looks to me like someone took a blade screwdriver to it.

You think that is bad? Ther is a red 64 coupe on E that is awful. I don't know if it is on the site or the seller sent it to me. Unbelieveable. The vin tag has 4 holes in it and is fastened with phillips screws. The trim tag has big hardware store round rivits Tom #41491
