I am trying to "TRACK DOWN" ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION on my 1963 Corvette. It was in California in the 1977-1978 time frame(CALIFORNIA LICENSE PLATE#388 PFI), inwhich I have the Lic Plate(see picture). I know it is impossible to get any info from the California Motor Vehicle Agency(Privacy Concerns), but does anyone out there have any suggestions??

All I can tell you is that these plates are about of the correct alpha character series (i.e. "PFI") that would have been issued in about the time period you mention.
You are correct in that you'll have no luck trying to get any information out of DMV on these plates. However, I can virtually guarantee you that if that plate number was run in the DMV database, it will come back "no record". Since the car has not been registered in California since, apparently, 1977, it would have long-since dropped out of the system.
There may be further information in some old DMV hard-copy records and/or "less accessible" electronic system, but the chance of getting anything that way is probably less than the people in hell getting icewater. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
