How much play is normal in the ball joints ? my original uppers are tight, but the lowers have 1/8"-1/4" play up and down in them is this normal ??

    thanks Tom

No, it's not normal. That much play, if it's actually in the ball joint, is way excessive and new joints are indicated. The lower ball joints are the ones that experience most of the wear. Upper ball joints are pretty much "immortal", but they are often replaced as a matter of routine when the lowers are replaced.

Tom one minor detail question - are these in an assembled state, ie in car?
If out of car - - Since the thread has had a lot of examples of "out of car" ball joints (a arms) just thought to clarify since the answer may be a little different.
