R43XLS spark plugs the way to go on an l36 or no?

Since I'm buying new plug wires that are dated coded for me 68 are the R43XLS a good choice for a stock rebuilt l36?

btw I'm ordered 3-Q-67 dated plug wires I think that is what I need for my 68 which was is build dated nov. 7th 1967 correct?

one other thing braided wires on ebay are like $97 and on paragon for $130 but the ebay ones don't mention being date coded. Where are they date coded at? hate to throw 30 bucks away on something you can't read when the wires are installed...anywhere cheaper that sells the dated ones?

    thanks for any help.

Brandon, look in archives.... I think you'll find that 45's are the recommended range for "normal" driving . 43's are too cold & prone to foul....

If the car is going to be a trailer queen show car install the dated wires. If you plan to drive it and want it to run halfway decent, buy you a good set of wires, made by MSD or other performace manufacturers. The repro wires are pretty much crap as far as driving

R45XLS is the AC Delco number.

thanks, I'll go with those but having a problem finding them advance etc don't seem to carry them on their sites.

            have they been discontinued?

You may have to look up a local AC Delco distributor......they should be easily available ... not discontinued .

                  Brandon,
Ditto Dickie on the wires. I find that if my local NAPA store does not have the plugs I want in stock, they can order and receive AC Delco plugs the next day.
                  Best regards,

Looks like the ones you need ..( Be sure they come with the top connectors & washers ) . Check gap per your manual ... probably .035 .

Sorry, but what do you mean by top connector and washers?

never had anything but the plug itself when I've changed plugs.

Just that the Summit picture shows a plug without the top connector . I just looked a an old R45XLS & it does not have a screw-off top connector . So, maby their example is for marine -use ? Anyway, I'm sure if you just specify the above number, it should come with everything you need for an automotive installation....including a new washer ( don't reuse the old one ).

I cannot see much difference, if any in the R44XLS and R45XLS in street driving in my 67 L-68. I agree the R43XLS is too cold.

Even NAPA does not stock the above anymore. They look at my like I am mad when I order 4 sets at a time. I tried to buy a tuning kit with distributor springs and weights and he had to go get one of the "old" guys becaues he had absolutely no idea what I was talking about.
