All:
Following email from Steve Rhode, FYI. Steve and I have been working on two videos that reflect John Hinckley's induction in to the HOF and one that will reflect many of the events and actions along the way relative to John's selection.
As I have said you were instrumental in the successful selection. As Dave McLellan said to John during the induction dinner "How does it feel to change history". You were all a part of making that happen.
I talked to Alex earlier today to alert him to the fact that the first video is now published and on the web. The video is special in a lot of ways and part of it shows Alex speaking on behalf of and relating his experience with John at GM at an NCRS Michigan meeting a year ago that was a surprise for John to celebrate his nomination. Howard(current NCRS Mich. Chapter pres.) agreed that we could also have a celebration of induction meeting last Nov. with the Michigan NCRS chapter. The video at the web link below reflects both NCRS meetings (nomination and induction). Remember John was pres. of the Michigan NCRS chapter for six years.
In addition we were most fortunate because Wendell express mailed me the HOF pin which is symbolic of the HOF membership. Alex presented the pin to John at the lNov. 2009 NCRS meeting. Alex's comments relative to John are shown as part of the web video. You may recall that John worked for Alex who then was vice president and group exec for GM. He ran GM's engineering(all the chief engs. reported to Alex) Zora worked for Alex as did John. Alex was my co-nominator. He is now I believe about 87.
John is also going to meet with Steve Rohde and Alex to show Alex the videos that Steve created.
I included Betty on this email and an FYI, she is responsible for building the archive of the Corvette related material(historical and current) for NCM. Steve has been working with Betty and the plan I believe is for NCM to compile more of Steve's videos as part of the NCM archive.
It will take a while but my plan is for Steve and I to make a commemorative DVD which includes the video that is now on the web and the second one (milestones) which will be published on NCRS Michigan when complete.
Lance these are the videos that I talked about sending you as an example.
For those of you that I was lucky enough to catch on tape at the induction ceremony, I will also add to your copy of the DVD footage of you/wife at the induction dinner.
Enjoy the videos as they are I believe super class work that Steve has put together.
I was most fortunate to have all of your help and will forever be grateful.
See video announcement from Steve below.
