I've searched the archives and can't find a difinitve answer. I have what appears to be an original 65 BB hood. Right side hood support, no provisions at all on other side, no emblem holes or access holes, light grey PM glass, looks totally original, but all the rivits appear like large pop rivits (have hole in center). Is this correct or do I have a service replacement. Thanks in advance for any help. Gary

Gary,
Do you have the capability to post images? Rather than "best guess", images would give us more info to help out.- Top

Re: 65 BB hood rivits
I bought a new GM hood for my 1966 Corvette from my local Chevrolet back in the 1980's and the rivets were the pop-rivet type. The part number for the hood was the same as the one listed in my 1966 Chevrolet parts catalog (Oct. 1965). I simply filled the holes in the pop rivets with some type of metal filler and then sanded them very carefully. The rivets on my original hood were the flat head aluminum type that were very common to that era.- Top

Gary,
The rivets on my 1965 BB hood are solid flat head, just like the rivets holding the hood pins.- Top

Re: 65 BB hood rivits
Gary,
Mine has the support on the right hand side, no access holes for the emblem and no hood support mounting pad on the left. The car was judged at the recent Regional Meet in Marlborough, MA and issues with the hood were identified.- Top
