    Wittek dated hose clamps...

I bought 4 dated Wittek hose clamps today. The dates that are available are only for the 1st or 3rd quarter of the model year, I guess.

My '67 car is a very late July, '67 car, so I told the vendor I would need a 3rd quarter date. He said that was incorrect, that I would need a 1st quarter date. Since this guy is very knowledgeable, I told him OK, send them.

Is this guy correct in saying I need a 1st quarter date? How is the dated stuff figured out anyway? Thanks, PT

Patrick, I think that the dating of these clamps in the first or third qtr. is all that they reproduce, it like the spark plug wires there are the same. unlike the factory there were dated each qtr. The 3rd qtr sound a lot closer to me but, maybe the 2nd would be more likely. John H. may have a better Idea. on the dates .

According to the 70/72 JM several clamps will be accepted for judging as far as one year preceding the build date. I was reading the smog pump hose clamp dating.

Patrick if you could post a picture of the reproduction clamps and an original side-by-side I would appreciate it. I suspect others might like to see that also.

Terry, I don't have any original clamps and have ordered the tower clamps. Maybe the judges won't care as long as they are dated. I would figure that since my car was one of the last '67's produced that it would take a 3rd quarter but LICS said no, they should be 1st quarter. We shall see. PT

Yes, it will be interesting to see how the dates play on the judging field. I guess I'll have to order my own repop tower clamps for photos.

If the date is easy to read the tower clamp is usally a repop. Most repops have the date stamped in very heavy on clamps I have seen.
