    67 427 Body drop

Has any one put the body back on the frame of a 67 - 427 with the radiator and fan shroud in place??

    Don,
I did a body drop on 67 coupe bb, over the summer along with a 63 FI/SWC. NO, I did not do it with the radiator and shroud on. I did have the core support in place. I think it would make it a whole lot harder to get the core support to wrap around the front of the frame when lowering the body. Go slow when lowering the body and its a pieces of cake. You can have the motor fully dressed. I would also make sure wiper motor is in place first. Just my two cents.

To echo what Mark had to allow.....with my experiences doing body drops believe the shroud (for sure) and most likely the radiator could cause interference. There is good potential doing damage to the radiator should there be a "slip" in lowering the body. Why risk it?

Other than wiper motor, outside heater box and harnessess are easily installed before body drop. Two more cents.

        Re: 67 427 Body drop

In the last 3 months we put a body down on the chassis on both a 66 and 67 big block, and yes I had the radiator and shroud in the body. I use my lift to put the bodies back on and that keeps them real secure. You can have the engine totally put together except the fan. Leave the fan off, pulley still on and you shouldn't have any problem. Just go slow and have plenty of eyes watching. If you are using an overhead hoist or some other means, you might want to keep more things off of the body to have more room (radiator, shroud, battery box etc). We always put as many parts as we can on the body before the drop (dash, all wiring, headlights, everything on firewall we can, taillights, parking lights etc) it is so much easier to get to everything. Once the body is down all we have to do is wire the starter, hoses, oil pressure line, steering column, gas tank wiring, clutch linkage, accelerator linkage, firewall wiring and bolt it down and you've got a car together. We just finished our 44th frame off and this is the best and easiest way I have found to do it.

          .
I've never tried this but it MAY be possible to lay the shroud and radiator in place on the chassis before body drop. Once the body is in place, the radiator and shroud can be moved forward and secured in place.
This process was used for later C3's.

Yes, I am using my lift, I did a lot 63-64 with rad and shroud but never tried a 67 BB, I am sure the factory did not put those pc's in after the body was down. I also like to put as much in the body when it is off. I am going to try it. thanks
