Can anybody tell me what the application is for a "4673" fuel pump. It appears to be a long screw version similar to the "4346" pump, but the number doesn't ring any bells.

I worked for Airtex fuel and water pumps for a number of years. On GM applications Airtex used the same part numbers as AC. I looked up both part numbers 4646 and 4673 and couldn't find any of the part numbers. The numbers most likely are obsoleted and dropped from the catalog.
The people on the Airtex tech line may be able to help you.

Sorry, should have been clearer. This is a mid to late 50's mechanical fuel pump. Looks a lot like a 56/57 Corvette 4346 fuel pump.Comment
