    63 Pilot Line #00022 I Have Your Original Engine !

    I JUST LOCATED THE ORIGINAL ENGINE FOR PILOT LINE 1963 CORVETTE VIN # 100022, THE TWENTY SECOND CAR MADE.

    The stamp is 3100022 F0618RF
    Casting date E102

    COMPLETE LONG BLOCK WITH OIL PAN, CRANK PISTONS, CAM, CAM COVER. NO HEADS, NO INTAKE. STORED IN PALM SPRINGS, CA DRY CLIMATE FOR 20 PLUS YEARS.

    I WOULD LOVE TO FIND THE OWNER OF PILOT LINE 022 TO REUNITE THIS ENGINE. PAST OWNER AND OTHERS SAY IT IS A RED / RED FUEL INJECTED CONVERTIBLE, BUT WHO KNOWS. ANY INFO PLEASE CALL JIM GESSNER 909-794-7905, OR EMAIL jim@vettefinderjim.com

          Jim, Very nice exciting fine. You know in the back of my mind I have heard of car #22. Certainly rings a bell. Notice the 38-39 days or so. between casting and assembly. Interesting.
          At first I was confused on the assembly date Jim and then I realized that the 618 was 1962.
          If the car exists the owner should be extremely happy. Thanx, JD

              Jerry's #16 is a red/red convertible. Then Jim said #22 is also a red/red convertible. Neat. JD

                  The collection in Florida that the late Jerry Clark looked after had a red/red '63 Pilot convertible, but I don't recall the number.

                      The Houston restoration boys had two pilot '63's years ago.
                      Can't remember if they had their engines.

                          If the motor is in Palm Springs, it's likely that the car itself was a SoCal - may call for an alert of the Fab 50's racers, Cal Club newsletters, etc., for an early '63.
