That will change the size of the picture and also the size of the jpg file. I then save it with a different name (i.e. firewall.jpg to firewall1.jpg) and everything works fine.

    Thanks
An easier method would be to go to your "User Profile", select "Attachments" and all your uploaded pictures will be listed (select "show thumbnails" to see each picture). You can then delete a picture and upload it again to your new post/thread.

      Gerald,

I didn't even know that the above existed. You learn something new everyday. And you're right, that certainly is an easier method. I'll give it a try next time I want to post a picture that I've already posted.

      Thanks.

With XP, go to the Microsoft site, download section for XP, and search for "image resizer"; it's part of the "TweakUI" toolbox for XP. Download "image resizer", and it integrates automatically with XP.

Right-click on any photo, and you'll see "image resizer" in the drop-down box; click on it, select the size you want, click, and you're done. It creates the new image with a modified name and keeps the original image and name - takes literally seconds. MUCH simpler/faster than the procedure John posted.

With Vista, Google "VSO Resizer" and download it; it integrates with Vista and operates exactly the same way - I use it all the time. Both programs are free .

It also removes your picture from the earlier thread making the "search" function even more useless. Add in removing pictures and even fewer people will use the "search" function.

True but if your removing the picture to upload it again it will also be restored to the earlier thread.

It looks like your link is part of PowerToys, and Tweak UI has a space after the k and before the U. F'ing computers.
                Thanks Gerry.

I got those pictures re-sized, but lost the original large images. See if it is not one thing it is another. As Rosanne Rosannadana used to say: "Its always something!"

Not sure what happened but the resizer creates a new image but does not remove/change the original picture in any way.

The new image has the same name as the old image, but is smaller. The larger image is gone. This time it is not an issue since I have the full-size images in another file, and I can move/rename them -- but I expected the re-sizer to make a second, smaller, image and that didn't happen. I guess it is just the learning curve. Next time I'll watch for a way to re-name the re-sized image. It was easy to do, just right click like you guys said.

Terry, the new image should have the same name as the original with the addition of parentheses and the size of the picture (small), (medium), (large). This becomes the new picture's name. Glad you didn't lose your originals.

                            Re: Vacuum Hoses

The new image had exactly the same name (DSCN 1702) as the old image. I could see that the new one was smaller than the old one by the size shown, but the old one was gone. I had the original images in a winzip file that they came in, so it was no big deal this time.
                            Thanks again for your help.

                              Terry:
It's very simple to re-size. I use Microsoft Office Picture Manager, standard with XP. 1. Open the picture file. 2. Click "Edit Pictures" on the tool bar. 3. On right, click "Custom Width and Height". 4. Set 800 x 600 or anything less for this board. 5. Click "OK". 6. Save file. Now when you attach it to post it will attach the right size.

Such is typically the result of 'pilot error'.

By that I mean when you've finished editing this/that item you generally have a choice of 'SAVE' or 'SAVE AS'. When you specify SAVE AS, you get to select a new name for the file and preserve the original as it was prior to the edit function...
