C-1 Hardtop Vinyl Headliner Installation

My question is about installing a vinyl headliner into a C-1 Hardtop. I have seen where these can be a pain in the back side. Has anyone recently installed one of these? How was it to install and what type of glue did you use? Does the new headliner come flat, and if so, how hard is it to make it fit the curved underside of the hardtop without any wrinkles? Is this a "One Shot" deal? Do you have any details or procedures on the installation? Who did you get your new liner from?

the new al knoch with the hard backing don't have the wrinkles like the other ones but are pricey and may be harder to install, i have an old hardtop skin and i sandwich the new headliner in between it and a another hardtop for as long as possible and it kind of takes the proper shape, then spray landau top adhesive on both sides, [ i use 3M ] seems to work better to only do one side at a time, have top and hedliner as warm as possible and don't trim until you are positive of the cut, the rear corners are the hardest part to keep unwrinkled, if you don't like it you can very carefully pull up and reglue and try again, but it's best to hit right the first time, good luck

Has anyone used 3M's Super Trim Adhesive #08090 in install one of these?
Is there a better product out there? What is the part # for the vinyl top adhesive?

Ken, I have tried it, but not in a headliner application application.

Try calling Al Knoch and ask them what they adhesive use. They are usually very helpful.
