    1971 Conv. Rusty Vin Plate

    I have a rusty vin plate on my convertible there is a small portion rusted away do I glass bead and paint and re-install or is there other options.

      Rick, I would suggest you wait for as much input on this subject as possible. I know there are states that have laws against this type of thing and you can also put the authenticity of the car in question if there is evidence of this maneuver (different rivets). Be careful. Mike

          Similar to the judging of an engine stamp pad, there are NO condition points associated with Trim/VIN tag inspection... I'd suggest simply cleaning up your existing VIN tag, hitting it with a good stop-rust agent and re-painting 'er.

              agree with Jack....

              Personally, i would never buy a car with a switched VIN plate. I don't care what the stated reason for switching is.......
              Good carburetion is fuelish hot air . . .
