One day, I would love to own/restore a 66, I thought I would get the JG to make myself more knowledgeable; in the NCRS strore, I did a double take at the cost for the manual. $50.00? Does MY 66 have that may differences? This is my first clue to the cost of buying/restoring a 66.

Believe me, if you ever get involved in restoring a 1966 Corvette or, for that matter, any Corvette, you will find that even at $50, a Judging Guide represents "chump change".In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Jg Cost
Completely agree with Joe's assessment. $50 is a ROUNDING ERROR when it comes to doing a restoration on a car. I could have bought a new Z06 for what I put into my 67 during its 3 year complete frame off restoration.
If you're worried about the $50 of the manual, let me tell you that the cost of the parts will cause you to re-evaluate either the level of restoration you want to do or the length of time across which you spread the expense.Chris Enstrom

Re: Jg Cost
Todd,
The JG's that are $50 are the latest editions that now include photos. I believe at some point all of the JG's will follow this format and will jump from $30 to $50. As stated it is WELL worth the price of admission.

Re: Jg Cost
Todd, if you are going to restore a '66, or any other Corvette, the JG provides correct PN's, and descriptions that you won't find concentrated in other resources. I purchased the new '56-7 JG, also $50, and it is the best investment I ever made in my car. Each edition of the JG's has new info. discovered by the teams. It will also save you thousands when you buy parts "advertised as correct" and the same with services.

Re: Jg Cost
I was just taken back by the cost of $50.00 when compared to the other JG's costing $30.00. I know the 73-74 JG I have is awesome, and like everyone says is indispensable. The pictures will come in very handy, I usually am asking for pictures as a reference from other 74 LS4 owners. My manual is very thin from constantly being referenced.
Since the manual is unavailable, does that mean it is out of stock ,or has it not been released yet?
Thanks- Top

Re: Jg Cost
Todd, Sorry you had so many negative comments here. Actually the gang was being nice to you. Forewarning you my friend that 50 bucks for a manual is just a start. Then besides the JM manual you need another 200 bucks of literature. Then you need a 100 grand to score a 97 or more. Then they come out with a different manual and you are out another roll of 100's. But it's a lot of fun and quite an education. Also a good investment. Or it used to be anyhow.
Meanwhile the gang here will knock themselve out to help you. Good luck, John- Top

Re: Jg Cost
I have found everyone to be great, and like stated, everyone has been, and continues to be very helpful with my 74. The 66 is a dream but one I am preparing for. I will find one I can afford, (much to my wife's chagrin) one day. Once, I start gathering the literature, I may start buying parts that are generic to the 66, as long as they are a bargain.- Top
