I watched the exterior judges, Tom Ames and Jimmy Gregg, judge the paint of the 66 427/390 air conv of my friend Ken Walley at the Florida meet on Saturday. The judges deducted nothing for the paint color and application section of the exterior judging sheets. They told Ken it was very well done. The amazing thing here is Ken painted the car himself, in lacquer, in his garage with a homemade paint booth with box fans AND this was the first car he ever painted. Proof it can be done. Picture attached, stolen from Quasar05 on the Corvette Forum, shows the car at the meet.
Congrats to Ken Walley On His Paint Job

Way to go Ken Walley!
That's what this hobby is about, learning and doing for yourself. That car has that nice lacquer sheen. What type of lacquer did he use and where did he locate it.
My 63 was painted in my garage with home made booth and it came out cleaner than my 67 that was painted in booth. Both cars comepletely preped by me and I also painted the 67, friend painted the 63.- Top
