    carbon canister hose?

I was under my car today, a '71, and noticed the lower cap was off of the carbon canister and lying in the wheel well. I can see the once white, now yellow filter pad.

My question is.. There is a hose on the bottom that looks as though it is vented to atmosphere. Is it so or do I need to look for a connection?

I checked the AIM and I can see the top two hoses, but no mention of the lower one. Thanks.

Lower hose just vents to atmosphere.

      Thanks Terry!

And another question. Although I truly appreciate your help, should I clutter up the board with a simple thank you, or just nod to myself and fix my problem? What is the proper etiquette?

I don't think there is much proper etiquetee here. On one hand it is nice to know you have seen my response, but for me no thanks are needed.

I enjoy what I do. You should have been in Florida for the fun we had at the Advanced Judging Seminar. When do you get to examine, up close and personal on a lift a 301 mile 1972 Corvette? In this case your next chance will be the National Convention. Consider that for fun in the sun.

Does it belong to the "usual" suspect in northern IN?
          I don't recall this one.

No,the present and former(original) owner live in Wisconsin. This car was at the Regional last year in Wisconsin for Flight Judging and Bowtie sign-off, here in Kissimmee for PV (successful the first attempt, with some effort), and plans to be at the National at Lowe's for final Duntov, and Bowtie judging. There was a story in one of the recent Corvette Mags about it. Would it confuse you more if I told you it was a white ZR1?

            Life is good.

I guess I won't see it unless it shows up at BG. None of the above events were/are in my schedule.

However, I can now make a very good guess as to the owner - even without getting the mag out of my collection.
I'd love his yellow LT-1 - but his price is so very, very, very high.

                Hi Patrick,
I am surprised to read you don't have N.C. on your schedule for this July. I was hoping to meet you and talk a little. You had mentioned Gettysburg in May a while ago; is that still a possibility for you?
                Regards,
                Alan

                  Hi Ken,
I'll mention something else about that piece of hose... on my 71, the hose is quite 'thin walled' compared to the other hoses on the car. Also, it's exterior is very smooth and has the appearance of plastic. Is yours similar?
                  Regards,
                  Alan

Gettysburg is still on the schedule.

NC just doesn't have enough draw for the family, and we're already taking 2 weeks for Yellowstone leaving July 23 or 24. No way I can take off 3 weeks that close together. Add in travel time back and forth; nope.

Being a Civil War nut, Gettysburg is an easy "do" for me - especially since I used to live not far away.
