Picked up another '68 parts car--Cp., 300hp, auto, a/c, p/b, p/w, p/s.
Pulled the spare and found non-original wheel dated------K 1-9 12 ( ) 14 AZ
Tire is more interesting--- Goodyear Speedway Wide ~ Tread F 70 15
NF Nylon cord
Tubeless 4 ply rating 2 ply
KR01070 which I think codes out to
K=1967
R=Dec.
0=Goodyear
1=Akron
70=size
Is this coding correct?
It is a white stripe tire with the stripe mounted on the inside.
Tread depth is just over 3/16" (13/64) all the way across. What was the original new tread depth?
Still has the ?nipples? around the perimeter of the tire on both sides.
What is interesting to me is that there is no DOT code. I thought that all tires delivered after Jan. 1, 1968 had to have DOT coded tires?
The VIN # is 10426, which should be the first week of Feb. 1968.
There are some other characters on the tire----225088-2
J9189 followed by (V-1) in an oval boarder
meets RMA-1 (or I?) & SAE
Are any of these a DOT code?
Thanks for any input,
George
