    wheel paint

Hey guys tried a search but I have not been able to find my answers.
First I am looking for the wheel paint for my 1957.
second I am looking for the paint code for the beige for the coves and lower dash. any help would be great my local paint store is not much help.

Also I have located a dealer who says he can get laquer paint, what is recommended in reference to painting the car with laquer or a new style paint specifically towards a TF award? THanks

J, keep in mind that the wheels and interior components (in your case shoreline beige) used enamel and not lacquer.

                  Re: wheel paint

I actually meant the exterior body. So are you saying that the wheels would be the same venetian as the body?

                    Re: wheel paint

                    J,
Sorry I have confused you. Here ya' go.

                    Body: Venetian Red lacquer
Shoreline Beige coves: lacquer (you could go with enamel, just don't get it too glossy)
Interior dash, etc: either venetian red or shoreline beige (depending on if you go with red or beige interior) would be enamel
                    Wheels: Venetian Red enamel

When you spray the trunk and convertible top storage area be sure to "mist" it so that it doesn't take on too much gloss.
                    Good luck.

                      Re: wheel paint

The body paint was nitrocellulose lacquer, except for a silver body which was acrylic. If it was a black, blue or white body with silver cove then the silver paint was nitrocellulose. A silver acrylic body had a paint tag on the firewall noting acrylic paint.

Question on red and beige lacquer body and beige enamel instrument panel. Why did they use enamel on the instrument panel instead of lacquer? Was there a problem with the two paints compatability? (You can paint enamel over lacquer but not lacquer over enamel.)

                      Thanks!
