    '66 Radio Side Panels

I'm in the process of re-finishing the radio side panels of my '66.
Does anyone know if the front inside tube where the heat comes out is to also be painted or to remaim bare fiberglass???
    Any help appreciated. Thank You

Don -- here's a pic of the LH side panel (don't know if '65 or 66, but probably both the same). IMO, they shot some paint spray into the open hole where the hot air exits horizontally, but otherwise, the backside got scant coverage.

Don here are my late 66 side panels. Every piece of glass on this car is black except this one piece on the back of the right side radio panel

Thank You Peter & Wayne. That answers my question. I'll shoot some black into that area when re-finishing them. Thanks again

Don, are you using a spray can, what brand & color (gloss)?

Ronald, I'm using a rattle can, Krylon 1613 ( Industrial)
Completly stripped to bare fiberglass with Capt. Lee, washed with luke warm water to dilute the stripper, dried, sanded with scotch brite dipped in lacquer thinner to get stripper out of the fiberglass, then wiped with prep-sol, then sprayed with about 3 light coats of 1613. It might the long way to do it but it works for me.

Ronald, Look on the bottom of the can for numbers. This issue has been discussed on the discussion board many times. You may research it under the archives. Also there was a nice article in the Restorer Fall 2009 page 41. It would answer your questions.
In a nut shell Krylon had a Semi-Flat Black 1613. They put it into the industrial line. What you find today at the local Walley-world is Satin 51613. The can is also marked indoor/outdoor. You cannot re-coat several times with this line.
The newer 1613 can be found at places that sell the industrial line. It remains 1613 on the bottom of the can and on the front says industrial. Same old formula and you can re-coat. I buy mine ( they must order it in by case) at the local FastNal store. You can look them up on the web and find a local store near you. If they can't find it let me know and I can look up their stock code. Hope this helps.
