Can someone supply me with a supplier that sells engine wiring harnesses for a 1963 Corvette besides Lectric Ltd? Had bad experience , don't want to go there again. Many thanks.

Re: Engine department wiring harness supplier
Doug, I don't think that there are many makers of corvette wire harnesses other than lectric limited, most of the suppliers use there harnesses, short of finding a NOS. maybe John H. may know of another supplier.Last edited by Edward J.; January 19, 2010, 03:30 PM.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: Engine department wiring harness supplier
I have done 3 cars with M&H they are helpful, make a great product and
they stand by their work. Check their lead time now. Not everything is in stock. My last harness took 6 weeks to get.- Top

Re: Engine department wiring harness supplier
Depending on how picky you are, you may want to make sure all the connectors are the same as original. Some connectors down on the starter were no longer available so I ended up saving mine. M&H gladly soldered and re-crimped the original connectors where I asked them to. Same with the keyed positive battery cable connector at the starter. The original connectors are very time consuming to save and do it so they can be properly crimped and soldered.
However, it was nice to get a new harness where all connectors were as original.
I have used lectric limited and M&H for my GTO and vette. I had a much more enjoyable experience with M&H. They were great at answering all my stupid questions.

Re: Engine department wiring harness supplier
I have recently corresponded with LL concerning some inaccuracies in their repo harnesses for early year Vettes. They we not interested in changing even when the facts were on the table. It is interesting that the way they make harnesses depends on these things:
1. Availability of parts such as original and/or non-original connectors
2. Finding original harnesses to copy - should be done by now given how many years they've been at it
3. Making supposition on how things should be that may or may not be accurate
4. Making originality compromises for cost and inventory purposes - It is still a business and need to watch the dollars on low volume goods
An example of the latter is they won't make two different sets of emergency brake warning light leads - one for 53-54 and another for 55. There should be a different color of wire and type of insulation used for the 6V vs. 12V application.- Top

Re: Engine department wiring harness supplier
M&H will do everything they can to make a harness to your specs and they are more that willing to reuse your connectors and change wire colors to match where needed. There may be additional cost. However, they did not charge me extra.
I sent an extra original engine harness I had and unlike another vendor they made minor changes to properly match mine.
Funny story about the negative battery cable. M&H actually had the correct lugs for the frame end and they did not know it. They looked at mine and now theirs should be as correct as it can be as long as heir inventory holds up.
